(A purple E36 M3 for your time.)
And I take back what I said about most HE machines; this one’s pretty good at cleaning clothes... If only they saved the water level knob. At least I have the option for max fill. (And if you’re curious as to what happened to the old washer that needed a repair, well... Someone offered $100 for it.)
Pros:
Silent
Gentle on clothes
Quick wash
Cons:
The fact that you need to eye how much water comes in can be a bit irritating
Takes forever to stop after a spin cycle
Drain and Spin should have been called Rinse and Spin

Drain and spin and rinse and spin are different. Say you have a blanket in there and it's still soaked after the cycle. That's when you'd run drain and spin. Also isn't the water level automatic, isn't that part of the HE thing? It should always use the optimal amount. Congrats on getting a bill for the broken one!

Apparently, one of my colleagues pointed out that options need to be off otherwise it will go into Rinse and Spin mode. Yikes. And I guess I could overlook the automatic fill level, partly because of the deep fill option.
And thanks! It was better than having to yank out the agitator in the old one, at least!

Thanks for reminding me this existed, quick google search for washing machine enthusiast and the old oppo article popped up. Made my day.

We bought a new Washer about 18 months ago or so (I think). The last HE we had lasted 4.5 years. Yeah. I wasn’t too happy about it. I can’t remember the make of the last one.
Anyway, the last one was a front loader, which I’ve always despised. But our current HE is a top loader like yours, and cleans WAY better than the old one ever did. They just shouldn't make front loaders if they're all going to be crap.

Pretty much. The only Front Loader that’s decent would probably be Speed Queens, but I can’t justify the steep price tag these machines have over a typical Samsung/LG/Whirlpool offering.

Interesting tidbit I learned a couple of years back. A coworker of mine lives in a rowhome in Philadelphia. His steps to his basement are quite narrow. The only washer he could get was a Speed Queen because they disassemble enough (two piece drum I believe) that he could get it down his steps. The only other option is cutting a trap door in the floor, which he didn't want to do. IIRC I think he said they had to have a technician come out, disassemble it, take it downstairs and then reassemble. I think I'd just move. lol.

Heh, pretty much. The moment someone tells me those are my only two options, I’m just going to start asking myself “is it a good time to move house or should I just say screw it and go to the laundromat?”
